Think you strained your hamstring?

Now what?

What is the best first thing to do?

Introducing: The Extender

It’s my favorite first exercise to give to patient’s who’ve just strained their hamstring.

I created a video demonstrating the exercise HERE

Hamstring strain rehab is relatively simple and involves a series of progressive eccentric and isometric exercises

But The Extender is step 1

Essentially what you do is provide a very gentle and momentary stretch to the hamstring.

Key words: gentle and momentary

Don’t aggressively stretch your hamstring for a long time.

And for that matter, don’t do either of those things in any combination. We don’t want short duration aggressive stretching and we don’t want long duration gentle stretching.

The Extender is touch and go. Touch and go.

Enjoy
